Tarragindi Conservation Park

This bushcare site on state government land is on the head waters of Perrone Creek, and is blessed with some fantastic eucalypts.  And some dedicated volunteers!

Project Details

A small group of locals have been working hard to maintain and improve the bushland in a fascinating patch of woodland between Solna St, Ferrand St and Monash Rd, Tarragindi.  It’s very close to Toohey Forest, although separated by an area of housing.

The site was very weedy just a few years ago, with Ochna and Syngonium some of the worst weeds there.  However there is a fantastic seed bank, so with skilled weed treatment, the team have made space for natives to germinate and thrive.  In the few areas where this has been slower, they’ve been planting natives, such as on the banks of the small creek at the Solna St end.

There is some great wildlife that visits the site, such as king parrots and koalas.

The bushcarers here deserve our congratulations for the fantastic difference they are making to the area! Contact us to get involved.
